Did you watch it?
I’m currently 40 minutes into this Oprah episode and I notice consistency in Peter Walsh’s message. TIME! You can make a significant difference in your space and in your life in just a few minutes. Did you see the SUV – WOW! That’s all I can say – WOW! The crew cleaned and organized that SUV in one hour. I know what you’re thinking – they have a ‘crew’. If I had a ‘crew’ I could do that in an hour too! I say you can! First option, recruit your family – your spouse, your kids, your siblings, etc. Working together saves time! If this doesn’t work, look at hiring an organizing consultant, like Peter Walsh. You can find a qualified organizer through the National Association of Professional Organizers. Even if you’re working solo to organize your life, you can get a lot done in just 10 minutes a day. In 10 minutes you can…
- Clean off a shelf in your closet, only put back the clothes you want to keep, refold the clothes neatly so each item can be seen and be accessible
- Empty out your miscellaneous utensil drawer in the kitchen (yes, we all have one and many times you can’t get that drawer open or closed because it’s overflowing), if you have too many spatulas (and you never bake) get rid of the ones you don’t need, sort the utensils by categories (i.e. spoons, spatulas, peeler, etc) and put the utensils back in the drawer keeping your categorized items together
Shoe box lids are a great way to keep utensils in the drawer sorted - Sort through the mail and throw away the junk mail so it doesn’t create new clutter (be proactive!)
With just 10 minutes a day, slowly, you will see a transformation in your home, in your heart, and in your health.
This Oprah episode has a lot of great advice that I plan on touching on in future posts. I’d like to leave you with the one thing Peter Walsh said to open the episode – (I’ll paraphrase!) – With the economy the way it is life can seem so out of control. But your home is the one thing YOU CAN control.
Did you watch the episode? What did you think?
