Part of my effort in 2009 is to save money and live green – ideally these two missions will go hand in hand. Often they do! This year, we are no longer using paper towels or napkins at dinner. Cloth napkins only! It’s a great way to save paper. You can buy cloth napkins just about anywhere and when they are on sale they are very reasonably priced. I have a basket of folded, clean napkins on a shelf next to our kitchen table. We simply grab a cloth napkin to keep clean (some of us get messier than others at dinner). I placed another basket on the shelf and this is for the dirty napkins. It’s that simple! When I go to the basement to do a load of laundry I simply stop in the kitchen and grab the dirty napkins from the basket to add to the load of wash. This is working out great for us – saving paper and money!
