How many times have you given dad a tie for Father’s Day? If it’s more than once chances are it’s time to give dad a tool to organize his tie collection rather than another tie!
The first step is to help dad get rid of old ties (yes, this may include ones that you’ve given him) that are faded, worn out, or dated. One rule of thumb to consider is if dad has not wore it in 12-18 months than it’s time to let it go. Sort the ties by occasion or attire. For example you might group his formal ties together or his work ties together. Or if dad is an avid tie collector you could even consider sorting the ties by holiday.
There are many storage options for ties. It’s important that the ties are stored so dad can see each tie so he knows his options and the ties are stored so they will not get wrinkled or damaged. Think about the space – is this going on a rod in a closet or hanging on a wall? If dad likes gadgets and has the space maybe the Tie-O-Matic is a good fit. This is a motorized storage unit for ties. Dad won’t overlook a tie if it’s moving right in front of his face! Or maybe dad is a bit simpler; consider this Necktie and Belt Organizer at Stacks and Stacks. This is practical because it stores both belts and ties and displays the ties so you can see them all at once.
Take caution using a single circle or u-shaped hook to store all dad’s ties such as the one pictured below. These hangers are easy to overload and ties become buried. There is no real way to organize the ties on this hanger. This hanger would work for my husband who only has 2 ties – he’s not a dad yet, can you tell?
Father’s day is June 21st! This father’s day skip the tie and give dad an upgrade – a tie organizer. It’s a subtle way of saying “sorry for all those ties dad”. And he’ll think of you each morning he picks out his tie!
