Household Items Performing Double Duty to Stay Organized

Sometimes keeping up with your home can be very chaotic. Many of the items you have at home can perform double duty. Save money and time by using items you already have to do a new chore or organize a new area of your home!
- Use an old toothbrush to scrub around faucets in the kitchen and bathroom. Also works well on grout in the shower or tub.
- Use an empty egg carton to store jewelry.
- Clothespins keep snack bags closed tight to keep chips, pretzels, etc from going stale.
- Did you just paint a room in your house? Fill an empty nail polish bottle with a little of the paint. If you get a scratch it’s easy to touch up the paint without getting out the big can of paint, paint brush and other accessories.
- Household sponges stay fresh longer when soaked in cold salt water (I’ve never tried this one – interesting!)
- Do you have furniture with detailed carvings on it? Use a cotton swab dipped in furniture polish to dust and polish those tiny hard to reach grooves.
- A meat baster is a great tool to water hanging plants this summer.

Cotton swabs have many household uses.
Hope you find these helpful. Feel free to add to our list. Or if you try any of these tips I’d love to know if they work for you!

Use a pillowcase to store the sheets and other pillowcase that go with it.
