Get Organized – a New Year’s Resolution

istock_yellow-notepad-with-pencil-mediumThe best (in my opinion) and one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions is to Get Organized. If this is your New Year’s Resolution, you are not alone. In a 2008 NAPO survey of 400 adults 96% said they would save time every day by getting organized. Do you agree?

It’s not rocket science that getting organized will save you time and money. So if getting organized is your New Year’s Resolution here’s help.

  • Start small by organizing one drawer or shelf. By setting out to organize the basement can be daunting task and often the task is left undone. Don’t bite off more than you can chew.
  • Build a routine. Set a routine that works for you. It might be as simple as going to bed and waking up at the same time each day. Start January to build consistency into your day and you’ll find that you have extra time to spend organizing!
  • Don’t waste time researching how to get organized…many people buy books, read magazines, etc. Often this results in more clutter in the home and a tool to procrastinate the actual organizing. Find an organizer’s methodology that works for you and stick to it!
  • If you’re having trouble making decisions or finding the perfect methodology for you consider hiring a professional organizer. In the Baltimore or D.C. area contact Ready Aim Organize for more information on how an organizer can help you get organized for 2010!
