Top Ten Tips to Ensure a Good Start to Your Day

  1. Set your bag, keys, cell phone and anything that could be easily forgotten or misplaced by the door the night before.
  2. Lay out your clothes the night before (including underwear).
  3. Know how long it realistically takes you to get ready in the morning and set your alarm accordingly (don’t fool yourself that you take 30 minutes total when you actually spend 30 minutes just in the shower).
  4. If you share a bathroom with others agree on a bathroom schedule so there are no surprises in the morning.
  5. Make your bed everyday!
  6. Open the blinds/curtains in your bedroom. Sunshine has been proven to improve your mood and fight depression.
  7. Drink a glass of water before your coffee. Research has proven that a glass of water in the morning will provide more long-lasting energy than coffee or tea! Drink a glass while you fill the coffee pot with water.
  8. Eat breakfast. A healthy first meal will impact healthy food decisions all day.

  9. Tidy up the kitchen after breakfast…this will help because you know when you leave for work that you’ll have a clean kitchen to come home to (sigh of relief!).
  10. Determine the most important thing you need to accomplish for the day. If you know your priorities at the beginning of the day then you’re more likely to make good decisions to support your priorities throughout the day.

Hope you start each day right so you can accomplish more. Going to bed knowing you had a productive day will surely lead to a great day tomorrow!
