I made $72 today! We all have things in our homes we do not need or use. In our recent move to St. Louis I cleaned out my jewelry collection in search of the inevitable – things I do not need or do not use. Many costume pieces I donated since I hadn’t worn in years. But there were some broken pieces I hung on to because they were gold. My mom suggested taking the miscellaneous gold pieces to a jeweler to see if I could get cash. I liked that idea!

So…on a recent trip to Cincinnati I took a snack size plastic baggie of miscellaneous gold pieces from my collection. My mom took them to her jeweler for me and left with $72 in cash! Jewelry that was worthless to me because I only had one piece of the earring pair or a broken necklace… instantly became valuable!

It’s important to note that my mom went to the jeweler she has used for the past 15 years for various purchases and repairs so it was an establishment she trusted. I would avoid the “gold for cash” commercials you may see on TV where you have to mail them your gold. Go to a jeweler you trust!
