If you’re like me then you probably enjoy going to Target. And if you’re really like me then you enjoy going to Target with no time constraints. I love to roam Target and see the newest products and the latest trends. Since walking into my first Target over 10 years ago I have been drawn to their constant changing products that keep me feeling trendy and practical. One thing that has been consistently fun, fresh and productive for the past 5+ years is the Real Simple home & office organizing product line. Over the years the fabrics and colors have changed and some products have come and gone but the core products remain consistently great. Target and Real Simple know not to mess with a good thing!
Real Simple File Tote
One core item I love is the Real Simple Filing Tote. This is a hard-shell bag that has a wire frame at the top to hold hanging file-folders. It’s stylish so you’re not carrying a bulky plastic case when you have files you need to transport. There’s no lid so it’s easy to get your files in and out and it won’t topple over when it’s empty and open. And as a bonus (at least for me) there are interior pockets to hold miscellaneous items such as calculators, pens, post-its, business cards, etc.
I’ve had my Filing Tote for years and I use it when I visit clients. In the hanging files I carrying information regarding the client I’m seeing that day, handouts pertinent to the job at hand, and Ready Aim Organize brochures (you never know when a client may mention they have a friend who’s interested). In the interior pockets I carry business cards, calculator, pen, pencil, cell phone and keys. This Filling Tote serves as my purse when I’m in a client’s home. When I am working with a client, I am loaded down with supplies so less is more. This Filing Tote helps me keep things simple…(dare I say) Real Simple!
After multiple visits to a client, I showed up one morning and she had gone to Target and bought her own Real Simple Filing Tote. We discussed how she could use it and came up with a great solution for her:
- coupons (the large coupons that you need when running errands such as the Bed Bath & Beyond 20% coupons)
- reading materials (papers from the kids’ school, magazine articles, church bulletins, etc.)
- local restaurant menus
She planned to use this tote in her car and in her kitchen. The handles would make it easy to transport. The items she would store were items that she needed both in the car and in the house so this was a great solution. The Filing Tote also fit great between the two front seats of her minivan.
Oh, in case you’re wondering the File Tote does come with 3 file folders (not the best quality so there’s your warning, but I’m a file folder snob). The exterior (especially the bottom) is very durable. The Real Simple Filing Tote can be bought at Target for $29.99.
