Welcome guest blogger, Maureen Rieder…

Between friends, neighbors, church and my Mom’s Club, I find myself preparing a few extra meals each month. It’s not that I mind… in fact, I’m happy to help and because I know that at certain points in my life this was one of the kindest things anyone could do for me. It’s simply that between planning the meal, getting to the store to get the extra food, checking for any special dietary needs, and then scheduling the drop off, the process can become somewhat of a hassle even though I know the person receiving the meal is so appreciative!

Thanks to my good friend and neighbor Emily as she introduced me to the wonderful world of mealbaby.com! The setup works much like a gift registry, only it is for meals. The person or family in need of meals can set it up for themselves or someone can do it for them. By setting up a registry with mealbaby.com, the user can create a schedule of when meals need to be delivered. Simply enter in the important information – how many family members, special dietary considerations, address, date and time to drop off the meal. Load in the email addresses of your friends and family and mealbaby.com will send out an email notifying them of the registry. For those friends and family who are out of town and still want to help, the registry can also specify local restaurants that they could purchase a gift card to in lieu of a delivered meal. As a registered user of my friend Emily’s registry, I loved that I could see what meals she was receiving and on what days. It was nice to know what food she was receiving so that I didn’t show up with the same casserole for the second night in a row!
