I took a trip to The Container Store last week and was amazed at the options for storing shoes! Whether you have 4 pairs that need a home or a hundred, chances are there’s a storage option that is right for you. In light of the Soles4Souls Shoe Drive hosted this weekend by the National Association of Professional Organizers in San Diego I thought this would be a perfect time to share ideas about storing shoes.
From simple and basic to complex and complete, from Wal-Mart and Target to The Container Store and OrganizedLiving.com here are a few options that might peak your interest and solve your shoe clutter problem.
Walmart.com
Whitmor Hanging Shoe Organizer, blue
$12.88
Great for storing kids’ shoes or sandles or flats. Meant to be hung in closet. Great for coat closets to organize the family’s frequently worn shoes or for a bedroom closet to get the shoes up off the floor. Large shoes such as gym shoes or men’s dress shoes do not work well in this or other similar organizers.
Target.com
Shoe Storage Cubbie Bench, white
$249.99
Great for an entryway. Not only does it neatly conceal the family shoe collection but it also serves a purpose as a bench. A great spot to sit when putting on or taking off shoes. Shoe storage benches like this one or others similar often come in various colors to match your decor. These cubbies can also be used to store umbrellas, dog leash, hats and gloves or other small items that need a home and are needed as you walk out the door.
Small Acrylic Stacking Shoe Box
$19.99 (sale $11.99)
This box is more than a box. Each box is actually a drawer that slides out for easy access. These boxes are stackable allowing you to maximize shelf space or create a shoe storage unit on the floor. The same style of box is made for kid’s shoes and men’s shoes. The clear boxes allow you to easily see what shoes are in what box. If space is a concern this might not be your best solution but they look and function great.

Chrome 10-Tier Rolling Shoe Rack
$79.00
Assembly required. The bars that hold the shoes have a non-slip surface making it quick and easy to put shoes away. The wheels allow for portability and for compact storage. You could roll the narrow part into a closet and slide out like a pocket-door for access to the shoes. Similar option are available that hold more shoes and that do not have wheel.
